If you’ve been to your local grocery store or farmer’s market lately, chances are you’ve seen an abundance of fresh corn on the cob. Most of the time, families buy corn in a can or in a bag from the frozen food aisle and overlook the fresh, sweet variety still in the husk.

Sure canned corn or frozen corn is convenient, warm it on the stove top or pop it in the microwave and minutes later, you have an easy side dish. But, what if I told you that you could make corn just as easily on the grill? I’m here to tell you, it can be done and it takes little to no effort. Twenty five minutes is all it takes to grill delicious corn on the cob. Not only does it taste amazing, but it’s fun to eat and goes great with anything you might be grilling!

How To Grill Fresh Corn On The Cob

Start by heating your grill to around 375°F. Once your grill is to temperature, take the corn in the husk and put it directly over the coals or burner. Cover the grill and rotate the corn every 5 minutes. The husk will create a barrier between the corn and the heat, protecting the kernels while also steaming the corn inside the husk.

After 20 minutes of grilling in the husk, unwrap the corn from the husk and place the cob back on the direct heat for 5 minutes or until you have several charred kernels on each side. If you would like to pull the corn off after 20 minutes without grilling it out of the husk, that’s fine too. Either way, you end up with a crisp, sweet flavor that everyone will enjoy.

A great way to serve this grilled corn on the cob is to slather the cob with butter, salt, and black pepper. Another way to finish it off is to cover the cob with butter and dust it with our BBQ Rub for extra flavor and color.

How To Grill Frozen Corn On The Cob

If your local grocery store it out of fresh corn or if it’s not in season, frozen corn on the cob is just as easy to prepare on the grill. Coat each piece of corn in butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Next, wrap each piece of corn tightly in foil to hold the steam in which helps it cook. Finally, place them on the 375° F grill for 25-30 minutes. Just be sure to turn periodically so it doesn’t burn.

Tips

  • Corn in the husk may need to be soaked. If the husk on your corn is pale and brittle, let it soak in water for 20 minutes to one hour before grilling. If the husk is green and healthy, it can be placed straight on the grill. However, if you want some added assurance let them soak no matter their appearance.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle our BBQ Rub over the corn after it has been slathered with butter. It’s a perfect combination!
