Ingredients For Buffalo Chicken Dip
All of the ingredients for this dip are easy to find and I bet you already have most of them in your refrigerator.
- Chicken – You can’t have buffalo chicken without the chicken. I like to grill chicken breasts and chop it up for this recipe. However, if you prefer dark meat you could use chicken thighs or drumsticks. If you want to save even more time, buy a rotisserie chicken from the store and use the meat from that.
- Ranch Dressing – This helps make the dip creamy while also adding that delicious flavor that goes so well with buffalo sauce.
- Buffalo Sauce – This is where the delicious flavor comes from. I like to use Frank’s Buffalo Sauce because it has a good flavor without having too much heat. However, if you have a different buffalo sauce you prefer feel free to use it.
- Cream Cheese – This is what gives the dip it’s thick and creamy texture.
- Mozzarella Cheese – This also gives the dip a creamy texture while adding a cheesy flavor. I prefer to grate my own from a block but shredded cheese in a bag will work just fine too.
How To Make Buffalo Chicken Dip
Making this dip is easy and you will only dirty up a couple of dishes. To start, heat your grill to between 350°-400°F (177°-204°C). Then put the cream cheese into a large mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer until it’s soft. To make this even easier, I suggest setting the cream cheese out about an hour before you start making this recipe. Once the cream cheese is soft and smooth, add the buffalo sauce and ranch dressing and mix until well combined.
Next, add the cooked chicken and mozzarella cheese. Using a spoon or rubber spatula stir them in until everything is well incorporated. Once everything is mixed together, scoop it into a 10 inch cast iron skillet and place it on the grill over indirect heat. Stir the dip every 10 minutes or so until all of the cheese is melted and it’s heated through. This will usually take about 30 minutes depending on the temperature of your grill.
Once the cheese is melted and the dip is heated all the way through, remove the skillet from the grill. BE CAREFUL! The skillet with be extremely hot when it comes off of the grill. After you remove it from the grill, top with extra buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, and green onions. Allow it to cool slightly before serving it.
Next time you go to a game day party, bring this buffalo chicken dip. Everyone will love it and be thanking you for bringing all of the taste without the mess. And, if you need to bake this dip in the oven, check the recipe card for instructions.
